The Altavita vineyards are distribuited in a wide scale of different environmental situations which are worth discovering. They cover about 20 hectares between the first hills of Cesena and Sorrivoli, with 100 to 300 mt over the sea level range. Lime soils with some points of plaster steam gives to the grapes unmistakeable and definite characteristics. Grown mostly in a runner system with plant density between 3500 and 5500 splinters per hectare, the Altavita vineyards have different ages. An enormous respect is given to the old vineyards, where the main function is selection of germplasm to complete the genetic combinations for new vineyards. The new vineyards are made with maximum attention to the territory, to refelct its nature and history, attending the modern techniques upon its service. In this way the nature devoted people can appreciate the very soul of the territory, its proper and unique identity. Organic production, lowest yields (up to 4.5 tons per hectare) with highly selected pruning, manual multiple harvesting and bunches selection permit to the top autochthon varieties like Sangiovese, Albana, Trebbiano or international ones as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon to express their full potential.
